Saraki Again? His Case Adjourned Again As He Files Motion To Disqualify CCT Chairman

Just few weeks back, Bukola Saraki told us that he's ready to defend himself in court because the case against him is a distraction. But the embattled Senate President is stalling the same trial again.

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Wednesday adjourned hearing in his alleged false and anticipatory assets declaration trial, and fixed Tuesday for hearing on a fresh disqualification motion filed by Saraki's defence team.

For the second time, Saraki is asking Justice Danladi Umar to step down from the case on allegations that he lacked moral standing to continue presiding. This case has been trashed several times.

Since the lead prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs was not present, Justice Umar said a notice would be set to him, advising him and his team on the new date.

It would be recalled that the Justice Umar-led CCT had on April 28 dismissed the earlier application which sought the withdrawal of the CCT chairman from the trial on the basis of an alleged ongoing investigation of his involvement in a N10m bribery allegation.

At the last proceedings on June 7, 2016, the judge warned Saraki's defence team against delay tactics.
