Fresh Crisis In Imo State; Indigenes Clash With Hausas

The pictures I saw from the clashes were just too bad. About six persons have been feared dead and several others injured in a blood clash between the indigenes of Akowa in Ideato North area of Imo state and Hausa people living in the community.

The unfortunate incident which occurred on Friday evening, led to destruction of properties, damage to community, leading to mass exodus from the area.

A Hausa allegedly caused the death of two indigenes and therefore took his own life.

This made few indigens take the law into their hands, thus leading to clashes and the deaths of others.

According to Okeoma News, the state;s Police Public Relations Officer, DPS Andrew Enwerem, said that his office has received a report that three persons were killed in the attack, while several others were injured and receiving treatments at various hospitals.

The police spokesperson further disclosed that on receiving the information, the state commissioner of police, Mr Taiwo Lakanu, personally mobilised officers and led operation to the community where normalcy has been restored.

DSP Enwerem said investigation has commenced into the cause of violence and killings.
